11. We use THE when there can be no doubt what we are talking about or what people or things are being referred to. Look at the following rules:
1.    Repeated nouns:
He bought a pen. Someone stole the pen.
A thief broke into his house. His dog barked at the thief.
2.    When it is very clear from the situation which person or thing is being referred to:
The milkman has come. (The one who comes daily.)
Can I borrow the book? (The speaker and the listener know what book is being referred.)
3.    Nouns with a clause that makes them definite:
The boy in the red suit is my brother.
The students at the back of the class are very poor.
The apples in this basket are fresh.
The milk in this glass is for her sister.
4.    The + noun + relative clause
The boy who is wearing a red jacket is my friend.
The houses which were built ten years ago need repairing.
5.    We use THE with superlatives and with other words (ordinals, the same, the only one), which imply that there Is the only one or which makes something unique.
He is the best player in his team.
kitchen is the most excellent idea for us?
When is the first flight to Pokhara?
Anil was the only person who could solve the question.

THE or No Article
1.    Before temple, church, college, court, prison, bed, market, hospital, etc. (if these words are used for other purposes):
She prays in temple every day. (No Article)
(If they are used in the sentence for their primary purposes):
He goes to the temple to meet the priest.  (THE)
2.    Proper nouns: Nepal, Switzerland, Hari, etc.
3.    Uncountable nouns in general terms
Gold is expensive.
Milk is white.
4.    By + means of transport:
We can travel to Rajbiraj by bus.
He will go there by plane.
5.    Festivals
He came at Dashain.
Happy Christmas!
6.    Seasons
These flowers bloom in Spring.
No Article:  
We do not use articles before the names of:
1.    Languages and academic subjects:
Shilpa speaks English well but she failed biology.
2.    Games or sports: He is good at football.
They play basketball very well.
3.    Days and months:

4.    Colours:  
Blue is my favourite colour.
5.    Illness:

(Exceptions: the Sudan, the Ukraine, the Congo)
7.    Streets and Lakes:
New Road, Durbar Marg, Rara Lake, Phewa Lake, Lake Geneva
8.    Single mountains:
Mount Everest, Mount Blanc, Fujiyama,
(Exceptions: the Matterhorn, the Eiger)
9.    Parks and falls:
Tribhuvan Park, Ratna Park, Hyde Park, Victoria Falls
10. Magazines:
Time, Himal, Spotlight, Knowledge
11. Meals:

(Exceptions: We use 'a/an 'if an adjective comes before the meal or it refers to a
Particular meal: We usually have a light breakfast in the morning.
